Note to self – make sure layout goes to client at the same time as the copy!

First decent job as a copywriter came via a friend at CBS records, during the golden age of vinyl. Most of the ads were headed for the music press, mainly NME and Melody Maker and we’d turn out half a dozen a week. This one for Loudon Wainwright’s Attempted Mustache (American spelling) meant I could have some fun and wrote the above. The account man sent the copy to the client without the layout where it was collected by the then head of A&R, Dan Loggins – who fortunately had a sense of humour.
